Drilling/Well Barriers

The world's longest well in the oilfield is over 10,000 meters long. To maximize production the reservoir is often drilled horizontally and multilaterally. Today's advanced technology in the oilfield demands an equal focus on safety. Scandpower has over 30 years of experience with drilling and well barriers, we have methods and tools that are of great value in the design and development stages to help manage risk in your project. Applying advanced tools for consequence modelling combined with updated failure data.

Within the area of Drilling and Well Barriers, Scandpower provides services related to: Blow-out Analysis

Within the oil industry there is an increasing focus on blow-out risk. It is essential that the estimated risk figures reflect the actual activity to be performed (drilling, completion, work over, production, coiled tubing etc) and that risk elements that are relevant for the operation in question are identified. This is also of importance in order to implement relevant risk reduction measures.

Scandpower has extensive experience in the assessment of blow-out risk for a large variety of well operations. In this work, a computerised model, BlowFAM, has been developed for qualitative and quantitative safety evaluations. BlowFAM reflects the actual elements (technical, operational and organisational as well as reservoir conditions) that play an important role for the blow-out risk.

The BlowFAM model is applicable for conventional reservoir conditions and HPHT conditions. BlowFAM has been established by Scandpower, in close co-operation with professionals within drilling and well operations from a number of oil companies and drilling contractors.
