Risk Analysis
Inherent safe design from the early stages is paramount for all risk-exposed activities. Scandpower has during 30 years of experience developed know-how, methods and tools to be used in Risk Analysis in all project phases. Applying advanced tools for consequence modelling combined with updated failure data, Scandpower is the natural partner to choose for a Risk Analysis.
Within the area for Risk Analysis, Scandpower provides services related to:
Concept Screening
In the early phase of a concept development the most critical aspect of safety is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of different concepts, and to screen out potential "concept stoppers" based on limited and preliminary knowledge of the concepts. Scandpower has systemised results from risk analysis and safety know-how in the database, COSAC, which merges this experience with new concepts.
The COSAC tool enables us to identify the main safety features of new concepts and provides results that allocate resources to risk reduction measures in a cost-effective way. COSAC has been developed in close co-operation with several of the major oil companies on the Norwegian Shelf.
Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA)
A QRA enhances systematic identification and evaluation of possible accidental events, including their causes and consequences. A QRA also provides a basis for emergency preparedness planning. Scandpower has performed quantitative risk analysis for all kinds of industry. Read more
Qualitative Risk Analysis
A qualitative risk analysis method is selected when failure date and statistics are scarce or lacking. The qualitative risk analysis gives insight into single accidents and the consequences of these. A matrix is used in order to sort the incidents into frequency and consequence categories. Read more
